Peony flowers, what are the differences?

Frequently we get asked what the differences are between exclusive peonies and mass market peonies. Like any other agricultural product that’s sold commercially, peonies are subject to breeding.

New varieties often have far better qualities than existing varieties. This could be in having a nicer, deeper color, having a better flower size, a more beautiful flower shape, a better stem, better growth qualities (more production) etcetera.

Because of potential future mass production peony nurseries often invest in these exclusive varieties in mini quantities in order to multiply the roots. After a few years of growing an nurturing, and multiplying the variety portions will be sold to the buyers in the marketplace.
